Fire Safety Talks

Firefighters Craig and Steve came to Year 6 to talk about fire safety and what to do in the event of a house fire.  Some of the everyday household objects they brought in really got us thinking about how quickly fires can spread and the heat even small house fires give off.  We all set about making our fire plans for home.

Remember if you don't have a working smoke alarm fitted in your home, contact South Shore fire station and they will fit one free of charge.

WW2 dig for victory garden

Our vegetable garden is finally in use again.  We had a busy morning of weeding and planting on Thursday.  So far we have planted carrots, cabbage, turnips, and spring cabbage.
We researched the types of vegetables that would have been used in WW2.  Hopefully we will be cooking and tasting the veg with some wartime recipes in a few months time.

Year 6 organised another great disco

The fancy dress disco was a big success.  Everyone put in so much effort with their costumes.Even the teachers got dressed up.  The disco raised £163 which will be split
between CAFOD and the gardening fund.

The end of a very busy half term.

I can't believe that the first half term is over already.  We seemed to have crammed so much into such a short time.

Prefects, head boy and girl have all been elected.  House Captains have been nominated, JRSOs have already attended a conference and a meeting at the town hall and the school councillors have come up with some great ideas for the school.

Year 6 beat all competition at the handball festival, with our teams coming 1st, 2nd and 3rd.  The boys football team have had their first match of the season too.

Our WW2 vegetable garden has finally been weeded and vegetable plants have been planted.

The highlight has got to be the Halloween Fancy Dress.

Photos of all to follow.
