Our first Borwick Hall challenge

Our first challenge was getting into our waterproof gear. It sounds easy enough but some of the group didn't half make it look difficult.

Pudsey Pyjama Party year 6 raise nearly £50!

We raised nearly £50 by wearing our pyjamas for the day and running a teddy tombola.

It was busy, busy busy at break time.

The tombola was almost cleared out after the first day, luckily many of you took the opportunity to have a pre Christmas clear out and it was soon restocked.

A very quiet classroom today!

For some reason, year 6 are rather subdued and tired today.  They had an expression of pure shock on their faces when they were told we'd actually be doing real work today.  Long may the quiet peaceful class continue.  They've obviously had a ball and we succeeded in tiring them out.

Day 3 and 7.30am
It is with heavy heart that Mrs Loy has to wake all the little sleepyheads. What do you mean you’re still tired?

Borwick Hall - Day 3.

Borwick Hall- Day 3

6.45am and everywhere is eerily quiet.

7.15am Still no sound. Perhaps I'd better check up on everyone. Or perhaps I'll have a little more quiet.

Yes, I think that'd be best.

Here are some images of yesterday from Borwick:

[I think that's Lexie diving off the pole]

But what manner of madness is this? Mrs Hemingway directing canoeing- surely not?

Borwick Hall -Day 2.

Borwick Hall Day 2- Late in the evening

We had a great time (although I missed my dog – Caitlyn). It was an amazing day because we all worked together to make it fun. I would always go again because it was so exciting, especially canoeing when we had to dunk our heads in the water.
Caitlyn, Demi and Paige

Everyone took part in all the activities  which included climbing, canoeing and outdoor activities. By the end of the day, everyone was exhausted due to the fact that all of our activities were one after the others. Amazing. We can’t wait to see our families but will be disappointed to leave.
Eleanor, Lexie and Estelle

I was scared I would fall in. Overall it was fun. I had the best time at Borwick Hall.
Tarus

A remarkable place, so many rooms! Phenomenal array of activities, with awesome coaches
Evie and Becca A.

Today we overcame our fears on the dreadful skypole. We learned that nothing is impossible even though you sometimes don’t believe you have the ability to do it.
Natasha G, Natasha R, Dicchya

Great trip, full of thrills. Great day today – we had loads of fun on all the activities. They were all awesome.
Filip and Cameron

We all had a good time. The food was good. Luke had to dunk his head into the icy cold canal. It was really ultra funny. Thank you Borwick for an amazing time.
Luke and Sam

Year 6 have had a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to Borwick Hall. I feared the skypole but I overcame my fear of heights and jumped off the skypole and hit the ball.
Kyle

The past three days Y6 have been away. Are you wondering where they were? Well… they have been having fun at Borwick Hall.  They have been doing lots of activities from finding monsters to jumping off a pole.

We did canoeing which is where you go on a certain boat and peddle with a peddle. We had to wear certain clothes. Everyone was in different rooms and had LOADS of sweets.
Khuslen and Madison
[Canoeing generally doesn’t involve any pedaling and today was no different.  Ed.]

I’ve missed my mum so much and can’t wait to see her but gutted I have to leave Borwick Hall:( It has been great fun.  (M)
I’ve been missing my mum so much- love you mum and dad- but I don’t want to leave Borwick Hall. (J-L)
Morgan and Jo-Lei

Today I successfully jumped off the skypole and hit the ball. I was soooooo proud and my teammates were too! All I could say when I reached the top was “I’m going to die”.
Grace

We went to the labyrinth. It was pitch black so you couldn’t find your way out.

When I was going up the skypole, I was afraid I would fall but remembered I was tied to a strong rope and pressed on.  To my surprise, I hit the ball.

When I was going up the skypole, I was halfway up and there was a really muddy step. However, I got up and I jumped to the ball and then I actually touched it.
Christopher, Thomas F and Natan

I’ve had a brilliant time with Y6 these last two days.
Mrs Little

Please can I go to sleep?

Borwick Hall Day 1

Borwick Hall-  Day 1

In the absence of reliable internet here out here in the country, we've been trying to send some updates via Facebook- thank you for the messages on Facebook. However, we now have a service of sorts and as flaky internet is better than no internet here goes. I hope it keeps going long enough to upload a few picture and thoughts on Day 1.

Night-time reflections

Today me, Thomas F, Natan and Thomas P bought loads of snacks for the midnight feast. We’ve found out who are instructors were (Graham and Phil) and they showed us around Borwick Hall’s grounds and inside.
Thomas P and Christopher

Later,  Me, Thomas and Thomas found Christopher’s bed was ruined but all the others were neat- it was like paranormal activity.
Natan
[It wasn’t like paranormal activity- Ed.]
[And it wasn’t ruined.]

We played fun outdoor games which included teamwork and effort. There were three teams and we did a hunt and some other games. We learnt some new techniques to improve the quality of the teamwork.  Every team won some activities. Later, our room is going to have a competition to see who can eat the most sweets.
Estelle and Grace
[Later, I’m going to have a competition to see which staff member clears up any sick- Ed.]

I got loads of pictures of not-just-kids doing the activities this afternoon.
Tea was really delicious. I had sausages and they were really tasty (I didn’t- Lexie). After tea, we went to the gift shop and bought loads of  stuff (pencils, rubbers and a funky little owl magnet with wibbly-wobbly legs and big toes). We didn’t buy any food because the others provided it! (Well, Lexie has some biscuits).

Thoughts on Day 2 later (if I can find a crank to wind up the router)...
